Singapore Airlines employs around 7000 cabin crew members. Singapore Airlines, or in short, SIA, recruits every year to replace cabin crew who have quit as they move on in life.

What kind of training do new SIA recruits receive?
New trainees attend a course, lasts for three and a half months long. Future flight attendants are taught deportment points like how to walk gracefully down the airplane aisle, correct etiquette on eating, grooming hair styles, and facial makeup.

SIA air stewardesses and air stewards are taught the A – Z of customer care like how to greet the passenger, serve food and drinks, and what to do in a variety of situations.

Singapore Airlines has around 3500 locals from its homeland. The rest of the cabin crew are recruited from many countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, India and Thailand. SIA is represented by an Asian face.

Singapore Airlines air ticket prices may be among the costliest in the region of Southeast Asia, but the airline banks on its quality service as its strong selling point.

What are the basic requirements for applying to become an air hostess with Singapore Airlines?
The female candidate must have a pleasant face, with natural hair color. An air stewardess isn’t allowed to wear spectacles but she can wear contact lenses. As SIA wants to maintain the natural, Asian look of its air ambassadors, contact lenses should not be colored.

The potential applicant should wear natural makeup, to look as natural as possible. Makeup should complement the skin tone. Day makeup should be used.

What are the required academic qualifications for the SIA cabin crew recruit?
Singapore Airlines likes its air stewardesses educated or at least, functionally conversant in English. The candidate should have at least 5 General Certificate of Education passes (GCE “O” Levels). The subject English Language must be one of these 5 passes.

How can I apply as a flight attendant in your airline if I’m not a citizen and lives in any of the places for Cabin Crew Appointments? I live in the Philippines and wants to apply as a flight attendant in SIA.

I’m about 167 cm tall and weighs about 62kg, am i consider to have the ideal weight or i should shed a few more pounds? Furthermore, I’m not small size as i have a large body frame. Do you think m a suitable to be a cabin crew?

With your height and weight, you are ok on the average side. But to be wearing the kebaya (uniform), you will not pass the uniform fitting round. Almost all asian crew are pretty slim to be able to look good in their uniform due to the image of the company, not just SIA, but most airliners.

    Hi

I would like to ask if i have scars on both of my elbow, would i be able to pass body checks? I heard that they don’t accept as flight attendents have to raise their hands often.

This is an important question and you are right in accessing the requirements correctly. Now you have only two choices (1) is to apply for flight attendants position and appear for interview with full confidence or (2) check with a Doctor to find out the possibility on what can be done to improve the situation.

      Good luck.
